If you haven’t tried wool socks….

I can’t express how much I love these darned socks! They’re wool socks… they breathe, they don’t hold the sweat like cotton socks do, and then when the cotton socks get soggy w/ sweat they end up rubbing terribly…. I am a total convert now…. and no i am not getting paid for this.. (hmm, maybe I should look into that…) anyway, if you all are looking for a great solution to keeping your running feet happy, breathing, and dry, check them out! here’s a link to what i purchased:

I purchased a “woman’s size” camelback… that helped a lot….

Forgot to give myself credit

memorial day, i was out driving in the middle of “nowhere” trying to find the race spot for next weekend… i just happened to discover a historic site that i had no idea existed… along with it were trails that led down to the ogeechee river… so for $2 i slung the baby into her pouch carrier and my older daughter by hand (she has an autistic disorder, thus requires my lead), and we went for an impromptu hike… 1 mile loop.

So, new thoughts regarding the bike

i bought my giant xtc about 8 years ago… it was my baby, and i spent a lot of time back then riding trails… then once i was married and reproduced, it was stored in the garage, and hasn’t really seen any action since then…. I missed it over the years.

Anyway, the frame fits me perfectly, it has clipless pedals, and i’m just thinking that it might be a better choice for the triathlon than my father’s hybrid. I can’t spend much money on fixing it up, it has some serious front derailler issues, but i was able to rig it enough this afternoon that i think it will suffice enough for my race next sunday. (being that it’s going to be my first TRI, I’m not ashamed to take a MtnBike… know what i mean?) but you know what is so darned frustrating? I bought some new tubes today at wal-mart, and thought that the shrader valves would fit with my rims. not so! dang it! I didn’t realize that the actual hole for the presta valves is smaller than whats required for a shrader… and tomorrow is memorial day, so I’m sure the bike shops downtown will be closed…. means i have to wait til tuesday to get some new tubes… dang it! I am impatient too, so that doesn’t help. oh well.

So I’m thinking

maybe i should go out to the race site and run the course tomorrow. It’s mapped out on the website, so i know exactly where the course is… what do you think? might help ease the anxiousness of the “unknown”.

Pilates for warm up before I run

ermm, i have SO learned the hard way that a good warm up is essential to any of my training workouts, be it swimming or running…. so I just did a bit of pilates here at the house before I head downtown for my run at Forsyth Park… oh, and then I will be rewarding myself with a trip to the beach… cause guess what? the kids are with their father this weekend.. whoo hoo!

About the thirst problem: target.com has an inexpensive camelback but it’s only online, not in the store… so I think I’ll just have to park my waterbottle somewhere on my run route. but, seriously i’m going to need something before my race next weekend….

okay, off to hit the pavement!
